Sally Wainwright will be in discussion with Adrian Chiles about her career which started with contributing to The Archers and Coronation Street. The skills which she cultivated during this time set her up to be the much decorated writer she is today. Some of her many accolades include the Writer of the Year, several BAFTAs, and an OBE for her services to Writing and Television.

The Alternative MacTaggart: Meera Syal CBE

Launched in 1997, the annual Alternative MacTaggart provokes debate in the industry from different viewpoints. This year, actress, writer and comedian, Meera Syal CBE will speak to Festival Executive Chair, Fatima Salaria, about her experiences throughout a multifaceted career. The recipient of the BAFTA Fellowship at this year’s BAFTA Television Awards, Syal will speak to the highs and the lows of being a trailblazing British Asian woman in the film and TV industry and “reflecting on the importance of representation and giving voice to unheard stories.”
